What the Israeli army says about the incident - Hamas threatens collapse of talks as it accuses Tel Aviv of "massacre" - Watch video

Newsroom February 29 05:56

Health authorities in Gaza said today that Israeli fire on people waiting for humanitarian aid near Gaza City resulted in 104 Palestinians losing their lives and 280 being injured, with one hospital saying it received 10 dead and dozens injured.

Al Jazeera Arabic aired video footage showing what happened immediately after Israeli fire fell.

There was panic at the scene, and the video shows gunfire and shouting from the people at the scene. However, Tel Aviv denies that it bombed the site.

The Hamas health ministry accuses Israel of a “massacre” in northern Gaza. Health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said more than 100 people were killed while waiting for humanitarian aid to be distributed and more than 700 were injured.

The incident took place at the Nabulski roundabout on Rashid Street, according to the spokesman, who warned that dozens of wounded have been taken to the nearby al-Sifa hospital in serious or critical condition.

Doctors, he added, were unable to deal with the volume and severity of the cases.
