On the occasion of today’s International Day of Zero Discrimination, Minister of State Stavros Papastavros visited the packaging workshop of the Social Cooperative Enterprise 3S School Synergy Snacks. This enterprise has been operating since 2019 with the vision of professional rehabilitation and maximum autonomy for young people with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disorders. There, he met with its president, George Bouloukos, two employees – individuals with intellectual disabilities, an educator, and parents, while also participating in the packaging process.
Immediately afterward, Minister Papastavros stated: “Today is the International Day of Zero Discrimination. The government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the overwhelming majority of our fellow citizens stand against any prejudice that leads to discrimination and exclusion. The Social Cooperative Enterprise School Synergy Snacks puts inclusion into practice. All of its employees are Persons with Disabilities. From here, we send a loud message. Disability does not mean inability. On the contrary, our fellow citizens with disabilities constitute a valuable productive force that has remained untapped. This concerns us all. We are working hard to remove the obstacles they encounter on their path. The task is very difficult. However, with strategy, coordination, and systematic work, we will succeed,” he assured in conclusion.

It is worth noting that Minister Papastavros’ initiative-visit comes at a time when unemployment among people with disabilities in Greece remains high, specifically exceeding 60% – with intellectual disabilities, over 80% – while in the general population of our country, unemployment is below 9.5%.
