A series of new, strict regulations regarding the use of mobile phones in schools is being implemented by the Ministry of Education, reinforcing the existing framework. The escalation of penalties will lead to the permanent expulsion of those who do not comply.
According to reliable sources, students who post content on social media that exposes or ridicules their classmates during school hours will face even permanent expulsion from their school, noting that this will be the strictest of the penalties imposed. Additionally, the mandatory handing over of mobile phones to school daily at the start of class aims to prevent their unauthorized use.
Penalties for possessing a mobile phone within the school premises will be severe: if a student is found with a mobile phone in the classroom, hourly expulsion will be imposed, and if there is a recurrence, expulsion will be daily. In cases of bullying incidents involving their classmates, those responsible will resort to the final expulsion, the “change of school environment.” Indeed, the number of reports in schools for such incidents has now reached alarming proportions.

It is worth noting that despite the existence of a relevant regulation by the Ministry of Education since 2021, which prohibits the use of mobile phones in schools as well as other electronic devices that have image and sound processing features, today only a very small percentage of students apply it, while in the majority of schools is disturbingly “tolerance” regarding the extensive use of these devices both outside and inside the classrooms.
