France: Thriller in the death of 2-year-old Emile – Bones found 90 metres from his grandfather’s house

The remains were initially announced to have been found 3 km from the village where the 2-year-old was last seen

Newsroom April 1 08:11

New dimensions in the case of the death of little Emile that has shocked France after the discovery of bones belonging to the 2-year-old boy gives the testimony of the mayor of the settlement of Vernet, according to which the macabre findings were discovered at a distance of 90 meters from the house of his grandparents and not 3 km from the settlement as had been announced.

According to François Balick, who spoke to Le Figaro, the bones were found “on a path between the church and a chapel in the settlement”.

According to him, this area “had been thoroughly searched by the police”. “It is unlikely that an animal brought human remains back to the village when someone is missing. This leads us to the scenario that a person brought back Emil’s remains and most probably very recently,” the village mayor added.

A source quoted by the Daily Mail said that what was found were bones and the skull of little Emile.

“This shocking news is what we feared. We now know, on the day of the Catholic Resurrection, that Emile is watching over us in the light and affection of God, but the pain and sadness remains.

Now is the time to grieve, pray and reflect,” said young Emile’s parents through their lawyer, who appealed for the family’s private moments to be respected.

When he disappeared on July 8, Emil had just arrived for a summer holiday at his maternal grandparents’ country house on his mother’s side and two neighbours claimed to have seen him on the main road in the village of Ot-Verne, but with conflicting accounts.

The last time Emil was seen was with his 58-year-old grandfather. Since then his fate has been unknown and investigators have not ruled out any possibilities including abduction and homicide.

An eyewitness said he saw his grandfather, a physiotherapist-osteopath, chopping wood outside his house around the time the child allegedly went missing.
