Earthquake of magnitude 6 in northeastern Japan

A 6.0-magnitude undersea earthquake, according to the Japan Meteorological and Seismological Agency (JMA), occurred today off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture in northeastern Japan, however, there is not considered to be a risk of a tsunami.

According to Japanese media, no casualties or damage have been reported so far.

The earthquake, felt in the capital Tokyo, occurred the day after a very strong (>7 magnitude) undersea earthquake near Taiwan, which killed nine people and injured more than 1,000 others on the island, while about 50 others are still missing and extensive property damage has been recorded.
