Iran’s armed forces have their finger on the trigger as the Tehran regime has vowed revenge for last Monday’s alleged Israeli bloody attack on its consulate in Damascus.
As CNN reports, two Iranian officials have reportedly revealed that a decision has been taken to strike directly against Israel, which has put its embassies around the world on alert. For his part, a US official claimed that Washington is taking all necessary steps in fear of an Iranian attack on Israeli or US targets in the region.
Israel: as Iran marks end of Ramadan a retaliation could be expected with drones and cruise missiles
“We are on high alert,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirming to a US source that the attack could take place next week before the end of Ramadan. In statements to CNN, a high-ranking US government official claimed that the US and Tel Aviv believe that Tehran’s retaliation is “inevitable” and that’s the reason why they are taking measures.
Meanwhile, according to a report by the American network CBS News, the US and Israel have gathered information confirming that the Iranian regime is planning an attack involving explosive Shahed drones and cruise missiles.
What the Washington administration cannot yet specify is whether the drones and missiles will be launched from Iranian, Iraqi or Syrian soil. So far, however, Israel is keeping silent about last Monday’s airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which killed seven people: two brigadier generals and five other members of the Revolutionary Guards.
When Tehran and Hezbollah announced that they would not stand idly by, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quick to threaten Tehran with retaliation.
It is noted that Iran’s threats against Israel were the subject of discussion on Thursday in a telephone conversation between the US president and Israel’s prime minister, with Joe Biden making it clear that Washington supports Israel in the face of these threats.
