The murderer of Kyriaki Griva attempted suicide while hospitalized in the E-wing of the Korydallos prison.
The 39-year-old was held in a cell with another person, and the prison psychiatrist who examined him had deemed that there was no reason for him to be transferred to the prison psychiatric hospital.
However, guards had been instructed to check on his condition every ten minutes.
Around 1 a.m., the murderer of Kyriaki is reported to have pretended to be asleep.
When the correctional officer passed by, he went to the toilet inside the cell.
He passed the gauze through the plastic pipes of the drainage system and attempted to hang himself.
