Turkey: Erdogan announced new measures against Israel

These measures, approved by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, "will be implemented step by step without delay"

Newsroom April 9 10:21

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in a press conference in Ankara, announced that Turkey will impose a series of new sanctions against Israel because the Israeli government does not allow humanitarian aid drops to Gaza from Turkish cargo planes.

Fidan stated, “For quite some time, humanitarian aid has been delivered to Gaza by parachute through Jordan. We had submitted our request to participate in this humanitarian aid operation with our Air Force cargo planes. Today, we learned that this request, which was gladly accepted by the Jordanian authorities, was rejected by Israel.”

He further argued, “There can be no justification for Israel to hinder our efforts to deliver aid by air to the starving residents of Gaza.”

In light of this situation, Hakan Fidan continued, Turkey has decided to take a series of new measures against Israel. These measures, approved by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, “will be implemented step by step without delay. These measures will be announced to the public by our relevant authorities. These measures will continue until Israel declares a ceasefire and allows unimpeded access for humanitarian aid to Gaza,” said the Turkish Foreign Minister.

Hakan Fidan also clarified that the aid sent by Ankara to Egypt to be delivered to Gaza by sea and air has exceeded 42,000 tons, with Turkey being one of the top two countries that sent the most aid to Gaza. Already, the ninth ship carrying aid for Gaza, he said, is en route.

“Under the leadership of our president, we have taken the most correct and bold stance. We stood by our Palestinian brothers. We tried to get the international community and Islamic countries to adopt a common stance against Israel. We have succeeded in this regard,” asserted the Turkish Foreign Minister.
