There will be good weather today, as well as over the weekend, with temperatures rising and reaching up to 28 degrees in some areas. However, as we approach Easter, weather conditions seem to change. According to meteorologists’ forecasts, rain is expected in the western, central, and northern regions, and thunderstorms in the Aegean Sea after Holy Wednesday. Initial forecasts for Holy Saturday indicate that there will be moderate to strong southerly winds that will continue on Easter Sunday.

According to meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis, until Holy Thursday, the weather will mainly be with southerly winds. If there is any rain it will be in eastern and northern Greece. Mild weather conditions are expected with temperatures between 24 and 27 degrees Celsius.

On Holy Thursday and thereafter, some disturbances from central Europe will move further eastward. Specifically, from Holy Thursday until Easter Monday, it is very likely that we will encounter unstable weather conditions, mainly in the western, central, and northern regions, especially during midday and afternoon hours when thunderstorms and showers are possible. The areas that will be affected are: Ionian Islands, western mainland Greece, western and central Sterea, Thessaly, Macedonia, Thrace.

Sakis Arnaoutoglou: How the weather will unfold during Holy Week

Sakis Arnaoutoglou’s post suggests that the weather for upcoming Sunday and most days of Holy Week will generally be good across most areas of the country, with only a few local showers expected in the mountainous regions of central and northern Greece during the warmer parts of the day. However, he highlights uncertainty regarding the weather on Easter Sunday, stating that although it is still some time away, current forecast data leaves the possibility of phenomena occurring particularly in terms of which areas of the country may be affected, as temperatures are expected to align more with spring conditions.

Throughout the country initially, there will be a few clouds. During the warm hours of the day, clouds will temporarily increase, and localised showers are very likely mainly in the western and northeastern mountainous areas and in island regions of the Northeastern Aegean. Temperatures will range from 2 to 19 degrees Celsius in Western Macedonia, from 7 to 23 degrees in the rest of northern Greece, from 7 to 21 degrees in Epirus, from 7 to 24 degrees in Thessaly, from 9 to 23-24 degrees in the rest of the mainland, from 10 to 22 degrees in the Ionian Islands, and from 12 to 22-24 degrees Celsius in island regions of the Aegean and Crete. Winds across the country will blow from westerly directions with speeds of 3-4 Beaufort in mainland areas and the Ionian Sea, and 4-6 Beaufort in the Aegean. A western wind with speeds of 5-6 Beaufort will prevail in the Corinthian Gulf.
