Bangladesh: Tragic end in a Top Gun-like scenario – The fighter jet crashed, the pilot lost his life (video)

The co-pilot of the Yakovlev Yak-130 is hospitalized in critical condition

Newsroom May 14 12:47

The attempt of a 32-year-old fighter pilot in Bangladesh to perform a Top Gun-style maneuver ended tragically as the Yakovlev Yak-130 crashed, and he lost his life, despite managing to eject from the cockpit.

Although the official explanation for the accident on May 9 was that the fighter crashed due to a mechanical failure, footage from security cameras showed that Mohammed Asim Javanda, the pilot’s name, attempted to perform three low-altitude maneuvers.

Two pilots attempted a ‘Top Gun-like stunt’ and ejected from the aircraft moments before it scraped along the tarmac.

Although the 32-year-old pilot initially managed to lift the plane after it touched the runway, the fire that broke out forced him and the co-pilot to abandon the Yakovlev Yak-130.

The two aviators were rescued alive from the river into which they fell after leaving the fighter jet, with Javanda unfortunately dying in hospital, where he was transported, while the co-pilot is hospitalized in critical condition.
