Two people were arrested for violation of the legislation on the national customs code in Promahona, by officers of the Anti-Smuggling and Cross-border Crime Unit of the Serres Security Sub-Directorate.

They are a foreign man and a foreign woman who, as was found in a check carried out on their luggage, transported by bus from Haskovo to Thessaloniki, a total of 440 packs of cigarettes and 500 packs of tobacco, for which the legal taxes and duties had not been paid.

The above tobacco products were seized and will be sent to the competent Customs Authority for the determination of the taxes and duties evaded.

The arrested persons, with the case file formed against them, will be brought to the Prosecutor of Serres.
