In the past twenty-four hours, a total of 31 agroforestry fires have ignited across the country.
According to a statement from the Fire Brigade, 26 of these fires were promptly contained in their initial stages, while firefighting forces are currently addressing five remaining fires.
Local investigative offices and units from the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of these fires.
The Fire Department urges all citizens to exercise caution and, for their own safety, to follow the instructions of the authorities in the event of a fire.
Fire Risk Forecast: High Risk for Attica, Peloponnese, and Central Greece
The Fire Risk Prediction Map, issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection (www.civilprotection.gr), forecasts a very high risk of fire (risk category 4) for the following areas on Tuesday, June 11, 2024:
– Region of Central Greece (Boetia, Fthiotida, Fokida)
– Region of Attica
– Region of Peloponnese (Corinth)
