Shocking video has emerged of the traffic accident on Sygrou Avenue on Monday morning.

As the video documentary shows, the driver of the vehicle loses control, then hits the crash barriers and finally appears to do several somersaults in the air before ending up upside down on the road.

According to eyewitnesses, the car hit the curb twice, the driver tried to back it up and flipped over at least five times.

The damage to the vehicle is extensive and the driver was trapped in the vehicle and required the assistance of two fire department vehicles with 6 firefighters to extricate her.

She was given first aid by a rapid response motorcycle crew of the ambulance service that arrived at the scene and was then transported to the Red Cross Hospital without endangering her life.

The left-hand lane was closed for some time and traffic was congested. The police arrived at the scene, while a crane vehicle later removed the car.
