A tragedy occurred at noon on Sunday (June 23) on the beach in Zuberi.

A 45-year-old man died trying to save an elderly man who was in distress on the sea of Zuberi, where strong winds were blowing, according to rpn.gr.

The elderly man was in a difficult position from the waves and four men immediately rushed to help him, as well as a lifeguard, managing to get him safely to the beach.

One of them, however, under unclear circumstances, was unable to get out.

Immediately an ambulance rushed in and performed CPR on him, as well as men from the Rafina Coast Guard.

He was immediately transferred to the Health Center of Nea Makri where he was resuscitated, unfortunately without success.

The man, probably of Arab origin, died in front of his family, who had gone together to spend the day.
