One of the most successful artists in contemporary music history, the legendary Dionne Warwick, is set to perform in Greece with a concert at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on September 15.
The five-time Grammy Award-winning American performer, who has released 45 albums and sold over 100 million copies worldwide, has made a lasting impact on pop, soul, jazz, and R&B music. Her extensive repertoire includes hits such as “Walk on By,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” “Heartbreaker,” and “That’s What Friends Are For.”
Warwick is also ranked among the 40 greatest hitmakers in the US, being the second most successful female singer from 1955 to 1999.
An extremely influential artist, Warwick has inspired many young performers and engaged in significant philanthropic and activist work, including supporting the fight against AIDS and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN. In recognition of her contributions, she was named a Goodwill Ambassador by the FAO in 2002.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated with numerous musical greats such as Gladys Knight, Elton John, Smokey Robinson, and Stevie Wonder. A significant milestone was her collaboration with composer Burt Bacharach and lyricist Hal David, beginning in 1962, which produced numerous hits. Together, they launched 30 singles to the top of the charts, including “Do You Know the Way to San Jose,” “Anyone Who Had a Heart,” and “You’ll Never Get to Heaven (If You Break My Heart).”
