Emmanouil Karalis has been the holder of the Greek national record in pole vault for several weeks now, having soared to 5.93 meters at the championship in Volos. On the other hand, the big goal for Miltiadis Tentoglou, who has won everything else, is the national record held by Louis Tsatoumas since 1982 with a jump of 8.66 meters.
In every statement, the World Champion mentions this aspiration, and during the competitions in Rome a few months ago, fate played a dangerous game with him. At the European Outdoor Championships, he reached 8.65 meters, just a breath away from the national record.
Karalis and Tentoglou went out for dinner together, and the pole vaulter didn’t miss the chance to tease the 26-year-old Olympian.
“Manolo” posted photos on social media and wrote: “You may not have the Greek national record (yet) BUT you are a gentleman! I sincerely wish that one day you will join the record-holders’ club … be well.” It seems that Karalis let Tentoglou pay for the meal and then teased him with his post.
Stefanos Tsitsipas also commented on the post, pointing out the drinks the two athletes had by writing, “You drank your juices,” as it seems the two athletes enjoyed their wine!
