Music will meet solidarity on the evening of September 24th at the Municipal Theater of Lycabettus. Nikos Portokaloglou will host a concert to benefit the humanitarian organization “Doctors Without Borders,” with special guests Panos Mouzourakis and Nefeli Fasouli.
“In my songs, I have tried to talk as much as I can about the journey of self-awareness and the return to the homeland of the soul. However, the journey of ‘Doctors Without Borders’ around the world is much more tangible and dangerous: it is a continuous adventure of offering and sacrifice. This fills me with awe and admiration. So, let’s support their noble and brave effort through this big concert at my beloved Lycabettus!” says Portokaloglou meaningfully.
Joining him will be Vicky Karatzoglou, one of the newer recognized popular voices, Vyron Tsourapis, a faithful companion in his live performances, and the dynamic band that has accompanied him in recent years, “Eugene Alites.”
The El Sistema Greece Youth Choir will also participate, a multicultural and dynamically evolving vocal music ensemble open to young people aged 8 to 26 with musical knowledge. This choir is part of El Sistema Greece, an educational music program for social inclusion that provides high-level free music education to children and young people.
Doctors Without Borders is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that provides medical assistance to people in crisis areas, regardless of race, religion, or political beliefs. The organization operates in over 75 countries worldwide, helping millions of people every year. The Greek branch of Doctors Without Borders was founded in 1990, and more than 250,000 people have supported their work to date.
With their relentless efforts, they always act at the center of major humanitarian crises. Therefore, they are organizing this concert to raise public awareness and financially support their activities. All proceeds from ticket sales will be allocated to continue the organization’s work.
