The bill on the three levels of education is adopted by a majority

Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis will submit on Friday legislative improvements on the bill

Newsroom July 25 12:58

The bill, which runs through all three levels of education, passed by a majority vote.

Tomorrow, Friday, July 26, improvements on the bill are expected to be tabled by Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

It includes, among other things, regulations for the Digital Education Portal, the Digital Tutoring Center, vocational guidance in lower secondary education and a series of measures to support the education system in remote areas.

On Friday, July 26, the Minister of Education is to submit legislative and technical improvements to the bill. After the debate in the plenary is completed, the bill will be voted on.

During her speech, Deputy Minister of Education Ioanna Lyrivi said:

“In article 3, about giving enough points to the seconded teachers we say the following: this is an exceptional case of providing education the digital tutorial and it will be necessary for the seconded teachers to come to Athens on the one hand, and on the other hand to do extra work, as you understand. We thought it was right to give these teachers an incentive. In addition, with regard to the selection criteria for seconded teachers, both the educational aspect and the personality of each teacher are taken into account, no discrimination or circumvention of the principle of transparency is envisaged.”

On the expansion of Digital Education:

“Regarding the enabling provision in section 8 that digital education can be extended everywhere, which was heard by many. No, and we say it categorically, it is only about the extension of digital education in the digital tutorial part, which is also obvious and we will emphasize it in every way, in every tone and on every occasion, that it does not in any way replace face-to-face education. That is why the authorizing document even refers to digital education in paragraph 2, i.e. education is provided through the digital tutorial.”
