The prosecutor of the mixed jury court asked for the guilt of the two brothers, aged 41 and 49, who are sitting in the dock for the murder of journalist Giorgos Karaivaz, while attributing the motive to the revelations the journalist had announced about organized crime in the country. The brothers are accused of “executing” the contract of death.
The executioner, the one who shot the journalist, was the 41-year-old younger brother, while the 49-year-old was his direct accomplice.
The prosecutor stressed: “I will start at the end. The defendants committed the homicide of George Karayvaz. It is not a simple homicide, but it is in the context of organized crime”he added: “Karayvaz was a police reporter. From long ago he had information about how organized crime and several criminal organizations operate. From his latest articles, it seems that he was intent on making revelations and maybe that’s where we find the motive for the murder because there is nothing else.”
The prosecutor continues to build her case.
