The driver of the lorry that caused the crash with the train in Aulida on Tuesday (30/7) afternoon has been arrested. The driver was given a breathalyser test which showed he was not under the influence of alcohol.
Of the incident three are injured however, the condition of none of the three is not of concern, as both the one adult and two juveniles bear minor injuries.
How it happened:
It all happened in the area of Avlida when the truck – for reasons unknown so far – veered off course on the ring road and crashed into the train tracks, resulting in a collision with passing train 1551, which was running the Chalkida-Athens route.
Due to the overturning of the truck, traffic was suspended between Oinoe and Chalkida, according to a statement by Hellenic Train. Fire trucks rushed to the scene to help in the operation to remove the 130 passengers from the train, as well as police cars and ambulances of the ambulance service.
As it was known earlier at the scene were also 6 firefighters with 3 vehicles.
