Tomorrow’s races will be held “provided that the subsequent tests—conducted on Tuesday morning—meet the swimming capability standards set by the World Triathlon,” clarified a joint statement from “Paris 2024” and the International Triathlon Union.
The tests will be carried out by technical and medical representatives from both organizations, accompanied by representatives from the regional prefecture, the City of Paris, and Météo-France.
“Despite improvements in water quality over recent hours, the recorded values at certain points along the waterway still exceed acceptable limits,” explained the organizing authority.
It should be noted that the practice sessions scheduled for Sunday and Monday in the Seine had already been canceled for the same reasons: the rain over the past two days (Friday and Saturday) in the Île-de-France region caused pollution issues in the river.
