Banning both the Sheikh Su and other forested areas of Thessaloniki will be in effect today, due to the very high risk of fire outbreak according to the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Change and Civil Protection.
Specifically for today, Tuesday, Thessaloniki is on orange alert with the deputy prefect of Thessaloniki,Kostas Youtikas, deciding to impose a blanket ban on traffic in forest areas.
More specifically, according to the announcement:
Decision to prohibit traffic in the Peripatetic Forest of Thessaloniki, in the forest areas of Oraiokastro, Thermi and in the Forest Farm of Panorama, due to the high risk of forest fire in the Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki, from tomorrow, Tuesday 30 July 2024
By decision of the Deputy Head of Thessaloniki Kostas Youtikas, the circulation of pedestrians and all types of vehicles is prohibited:
-in the part of the suburban forest of Thessaloniki (Sheikh Su), enclosed by the Thessaloniki Regional Road, the provincial road Pefka – Asvestochori – Exochi and the provincial road Thessaloniki – Panorama – Hortiatis,
-in the forest area of Oraiokastro (Oraiokastro Forest Farm),
-in the forest area of Oraiokastro
-in the Panorama Forest Farm (from HDA Platanakia to the shooting range)
-in the forest area of Thermi and specifically near the Environmental Park and the Isenli Forestry.
The ban is valid from tomorrow Tuesday 30.07.2024 and from 07:30 a.m. until Wednesday 31.07.2024 and 07:30 a.m.
