After Christina Bourmpou and Evangelia Anastasiadou qualified for the coxless pair final, Antonis Papakonstantinou and Petros Gaidatzis also succeeded. Notably, they achieved this in their first participation in the Olympic Games.

The Greek duo had a very good race, finishing second in the second semifinal of the lightweight double sculls with a time of 6:23.36, securing their ticket to the final.

Throughout the race, the two Greeks maintained second place, finishing behind the Italians, who clocked 6:22.85, and ahead of the Norwegians, who came in third with 6:26.62.
