Papastamos advanced to the semifinals of the 200m individual medley with the 16th best time at the Paris Olympics!
The 23-year-old swimmer “closed” the top 16 with a performance of 2:00.79, setting a date for the semifinals this evening and putting behind him the disappointment of missing the final in the 400m individual medley.
The Greek swimmer, a member of bwin’s Team Future, was the only one to qualify with a time over two minutes but will have the chance to improve in the semifinal race.
The fastest in the preliminaries was Japan’s Daiya Seto with 1:57.48, followed by Britain’s Duncan Scott with 1:57.77.
Apostolos Papastamos will compete in the semifinals on Thursday evening (1/8) at 22:47.
