Police authorities have taken action in Kato Koufonissi to tackle the problem of illegal camping, which has increased in recent years, causing environmental and social issues, according to complaints from local authorities.

Kato Koufonissi is known for its unparalleled natural beauty and its tourist value. However, the increase in illegal activities, including camping, has raised serious concerns.

The EL.AS. (Greek Police) has launched raids in Kato Koufonissi with the aim of identifying and removing illegal campers. The checks are intensive and include patrols and inspections in various areas of the island.

The police are working closely with the local authorities and in fact, they are being transported to the island by local boats as no other means of transport is available.
