The possibility of arsonism for revenge is being investigated by the Security and the Investigative Department of the Fire Brigade, following the fire that broke out in the early morning hours of Monday, August 4, in two vehicles of a police officer serving in a center in Pateles Heraklion.
The fire broke out in the police officer’s private car that was parked outside his home and completely destroyed it, with damages estimated at 10,000 euros.
The flames also extended to the policeman’s motorbike, which was parked next to the car and was extensively damaged.
Firefighters collected evidence from the scene of the fire and are investigating to determine what caused it, while officers are reviewing footage from cameras in the area to detect any suspicious movements. They are also investigating whether anyone wanted to “punish” the police officer for being involved in cases he handled.
