A powerful whirlpool was created in the sea area of Zakynthos, just as express weather has been hitting the Ionian islands since midday on Monday.
The impressive natural phenomenon was noticed off the island from the city side, as a whirlpool appeared for some time.
The phenomenon occurs on days with high heat and humidity and is the vortex between a “storm cloud” and the sea surface. The main cause of this phenomenon is the large temperature difference between water surfaces and upper atmospheric layers.
The whirlpool between Kyllini and Zakynthos was recorded on video by a resident of Zakynthos, a phenomenon that occurred due to the extraordinary bad weather that affects the country and mainly Western Greece.
The video was taken from the area of Agios Charalambos which is next to the town of Zakynthos. A wonderful natural phenomenon, fortunately without any damage to the island.
