The Scientific Risk Assessment Committee met at noon on Thursday (22/8) due to the severe weather conditions that will prevail in the coming days and is currently being chaired by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias, inter-ministerial – coordination meeting with the participation of representatives of local authorities and all Civil Protection agencies.
“According to the Risk Assessment Committee that met recently, for the next three days we will have difficult weather conditions and melting winds will prevail. Specifically, in Attikovo, Euboea, Corinthia, Argolida, the islands of the North, Central, and South Aegean Sea, winds of 6 and 7 Beaufort will prevail, gradually from tomorrow Friday, Saturday and will be further strengthened on Sunday,” said Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias and added that a meeting of the coordination committee follows, to inform all relevant bodies.
“I call everyone’s attention and ask our fellow citizens to pay maximum attention because no mistake is allowed,” Kikilias stressed.
Very high fire risk tomorrow in Attica and areas of Central Greece, Peloponnese, and North Aegean
It is noted that according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr), very high fire risk (risk category 4) is predicted tomorrow for the following areas:
– Region of Attica,
– Region of Central Greece (PE Boeotia, PE Evia),
– Region of Peloponnese (PE Corinthia, PE Argolida),
– Region of North Aegean (PE Lesvos, PE Chios, PE Samos, PE Ikaria).
