Kolydas: Weather Update, High Temperatures Easing, Minimal Rain Expected in the Coming Days

September Starts Off Well, According to National Weather Service Director

After a long period, the very high temperatures are receding and we are back to slightly above normal for the season, says the director of the National Weather Service, Theodoros Kolydas.

Posting maps on social media showing the system’s circulation through early September, he stresses that it won’t cause much rain, “but September seems to be getting off to a good start in the country.”

Generally clear weather. In the midday and afternoon hours, clouds will develop in the continental areas, and in the central and northern mountainous areas, there will be local rainfall. Winds will blow north northwest, in the west and north 3 to 5, in the east and south 5 to 6, and occasionally in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will rise slightly and will reach 36 to 38 degrees Celsius on the mainland. In the island country, it will reach 32 to 33 degrees Celsius, and locally in the Ionian Islands, the eastern Aegean, and southern Crete 34 to 36 degrees Celsius.

MACEDONIA, THRACE

Weather.
Winds: From northern directions 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 20 to 36 to 37 degrees Celsius. In western Macedonia, the minimum will be 3 to 5 degrees lower.
From north to southwestern Macedonia.

JUNE ISLAND, EPIRUS, WESTERN STREET, WESTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: generally clear. In the midday and afternoon hours in the continental areas, there will be some clouds and local rainfall in the mountainous areas, mainly in Epirus.

Winds: Variable 3 to 4 and gradually west northwestern local up to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 22 to 35 degrees Celsius and in the mainland in places up to 37 to 38 degrees Celsius. In the interior of Epirus the minimum will be 3 to 4 degrees lower.

In the north and south of the continent, the temperature will be 3 to 3.5 degrees below zero.
Eastern Sterea, Evia, Eastern Peloponnese

Winds: From northern directions 3 to 5 and locally in the east up to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 22 to 37 to 38 degrees Celsius.

From 22 to +22° C and +22° F.
CRETE

Winds: North northwestern 5 to 6 and gradually in the northern Cyclades up to 7 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 24 to 32 and in southern Crete up to 36 degrees Celsius.

From 24 to 24 degrees and up to 36 degrees Celsius.

EAST AEGEAN ISLAND – DODECANESE

Winds: In the north from northerly directions 5 to 6 and gradually locally 7 Beaufort. In the south northwest 4 to 6 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 23 to 35 to 36 degrees Celsius.

From 23 to 35 degrees Celsius and from 23 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

THESSALY

Winds: From northern directions 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 20 to 36 to 37 degrees Celsius and in the Sporades up to 33 degrees Celsius.

ATTIKA

Winds: From the north 4 to 5 and locally in the east up to 6 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 23 to 37 degrees Celsius. In the east, the maximum will be 3 to 4 degrees lower.

THESSALONIKI

Winds: North-northwestern 3 to 4 Beaufort and from noon onwards variable weak.

The weather will be generally clear with occasional clouds in the midday and afternoon hours in the western and northern mainland.

The temperature will not change significantly and will remain high. It will reach 36 to 38 degrees Celsius on the mainland, 35 to 36 degrees Celsius in the Dodecanese and southern Crete, 32 to 33 degrees Celsius in the rest of the island country, and 34 to 35 degrees Celsius locally on the Ionian and eastern Aegean islands.
