Two ships, a Panama-flagged oil tanker, the Blue Lagoon I, operated by a Greek shipping company, Sea Trade Marine SA, and a merchant ship were attacked today in the Red Sea off Yemen, and the tanker was hit by two missiles, British shipping officials said.

Military authorities have confirmed that the tanker was attacked by missiles, British shipping safety company Ambrey said, while shipping sources clarified to Reuters that it was the Blue Lagoon I.

No casualties have been reported in the two incidents.

The attack on the tanker took place about 70 nautical miles northwest of the Yemeni port of Salif, Ambrey and Britain’s maritime security agency UKMTO said.

The Greek company that operates the Suezmax tanker in question, Sea Trade Maritime SA, was not immediately available for comment, Reuters noted.

In a second incident, a drone struck a merchant ship about 50 nautical miles off the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, just south in the Red Sea from Salif, Ambrey and UKMTO said.

The merchant vessel is sailing to the next port in which it was due to dock, the UKMTO said.
