The Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Pavlos Marinakis, at the upcoming General Assembly of ERT S.A. on Thursday, September 12, is to recommend the selection of the journalist, Giannis Papadopoulos, as interim chairman of ERT S.A.,, in view of the completion of the term of office of Konstantinos Zoulas.
The Deputy Minister thanked the outgoing President for his important work for public television and broadcasting.
“Over the past 5 years, ERT has significantly upgraded the product it presents to the public, including by making significant innovations such as Ertflix and investing through ErtNews in continuous, objective information. It is important that new and old members of the Management Board continue in the logic of continuous development with the respect for the Greek taxpayers’ money as a basic principle,” the statement said.
At the same time, it is announced that the procedure provided for by Law 5062/2023 for the new system for the selection of administrations in the public sector has already been launched, the corresponding draft has already been sent to the ASEP and in the coming days the call for interest for the filling of the position of ERT chairman will be published through the procedure provided for by the ASEP.
The CV of Yannis Papadopoulos
Yannis Papadopoulos started his television career at ERT. He has worked as a reporter, editor, parliamentary, diplomatic and political editor, editor-in-chief and presenter of news and newscasts, while for the last eighteen years he has held managerial positions in newspapers, TV channels and radio stations. He has also served as a member of the Press Office of the Presidency of the Republic from 1997 to 2021. He holds a BSc in Political Science and International Relations from the London School of Economics, an MSc in International Business Administration from SOAS University of London and is currently a PhD candidate in Media and Communication at the University of Leicester.
