A family tragedy has unfolded in Nea Smyrna as the sister confessed to killing her 46-year-old brother, who was found dead in their apartment yesterday afternoon with knife wounds.
According to reports, the woman, who claims to be a Special Olympics athlete, confessed to Greek police that she murdered him after a heated argument, using a knife which she then washed and left in the sink. “He asked me for a glass of water, we argued and I hit him with the knife. Then I washed the knife in the bathroom and put it in the sink,” he reportedly said, though further communication with authorities was then not easy, as the woman continually shut herself away.
A forensic examination confirmed that the 46-year-old man suffered a fatal abdominal wound. The victim, had recently undergone surgery and had been discharged only the day before, after a long hospitalization due to circulatory problems caused by diabetes.
The two brothers are reportedly facing serious psychiatric problems and both are reportedly mentally challenged and are receiving care from a social worker as their parents are deceased. Their mother died 6-7 years ago and their father four years ago.
A neighbor said the two brothers lived for many years in Nea Smyrni, were very loving children and never bothered anyone.
