The six PASOK leadership candidates presented their positions, political priorities, and their programmatic plan for the “next day” in the Melina Mercouri Hall at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
Essentially, this was the first informal debate. Nikos Androulakis, Haris Doukas, Anna Diamantopoulou, Pavlos Geroulanos, Michalis Katrinis, and Nadia Giannakopoulou layed out their positions on all major issues. They discussed developments in the broader political landscape and presented their proposals for restoring PASOK to a path toward governance, enhancing its role as an opposition party in the run-up to the national elections in 2027. Polls already indicate that participation in the first and second rounds of voting, scheduled for October 6 and October 13 respectively, could be higher than in the previous internal party contest in 2021, when 270,000 members and friends of the party voted.
Starting tomorrow, the six candidates will return to their campaign tours and, in coordination with the Ethics Committee, will work to finalize the organization of the first televised debate on ERT. The proposed date is September 24, although it has not yet been confirmed, even though all six candidates emphasize the need for the debate as the campaign enters its final stretch.
