The Horasis India Meeting, taking place in Athens on September 15-16, is a unique opportunity to deepen relations between Greece and India, with the aim of promoting cooperation, investment and sustainable development.
Horasis is a major Zurich-based think tank founded in 2005 to support the solution of global complex problems and promote sustainable development.
The Indian arm of Horasis in collaboration with the Hellenic-Indian Chamber of Commerce and Economy is organizing for the first time in Greece a conference to explore at a strategic level the potential for cooperation between the two countries.
The first day of the conference was attended by a multitude of executives from government, investment, and business. What was particularly highlighted was that Greece as well as India have a long history and cultural heritage which creates a positive background for developing trade relations.
Greece can act as a gateway for India to Europe thanks to its geopolitical position and the infrastructure it has developed in the last few years, as such it can play a pivotal role in the transport and trade sector.
India, with its rapidly growing economy and population, is emerging as a major player globally, and Greece can be the most economical and accessible way for India to enter the European market. The strategic cooperation between the two countries is strengthened by geopolitical developments and the need for more open and free trade.
The cooperation is not only about large projects, but also small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which can benefit significantly from the expansion of relations between the two countries.
The conference also discussed cooperation in areas such as maritime, tourism, technology and renewable energy.
The conference ends today.
