€8 million in fines imposed on tourism businesses this summer

Fines imposed on food service, transportation, accommodation, and travel agency businesses this summer increased by 2.97%

Labor Inspection checks on tourism sector businesses from May to August saw a 6.76% increase compared to the same period last year. Fines imposed this summer on restaurants, transport services, accommodations, and travel agencies were up by 2.97%.

A total of 9,059 inspections were conducted, resulting in 2,569 fines totaling €8,118,261. Additionally, 105 lawsuits and legal complaints were filed.

Over the past two years, checks and fines in the tourism sector have seen even greater increases. Compared to 2022, inspections rose by 21.06%, and administrative penalties increased by 34.78%.

The table below details the inspections from May to August across various sub-sectors of the tourism industry.
