Before we rush to think that summer is over and returning to our routines marks a shift in season and mood, let’s pause and consider how fortunate we are to live in a country where the climate offers us a rare extension of summer, something unique compared to other countries. Let’s make the most of it.

Yes, vacation days might be fewer, and schools and other educational institutions are about to reopen, but who can say they’ve had enough of holidays, swimming, carefree moments, and time away from the city?

On the other hand, during this first month of autumn, temperatures remain warm, the sea is still inviting, nights are mild and lazy, the pace at tourist destinations is more relaxed and human compared to August, prices are more reasonable, and service is better. Island towns and villages are idyllic, without the crowds.

So this September, instead of wishing for a “Happy Fall,” let’s focus on where and how to travel to make the most of the gifts of the Mediterranean climate. From unique city breaks in seaside towns to popular islands we didn’t have time to visit during summer, or timelessly beloved mountain villages, this season proves ideal for every type of traveler.

The Four Destinations of the Month:

  • Athens
  • Alexandroupoli
  • Zagorochoria
  • Mykonos
