AEGEAN is taking the next step in aviation training with AEGEAN’s new technical base and training center as part of a major €140 million investment announced in early 2023 and now being implemented.
The new technical base, opening its doors yesterday (24/9), made its “unofficial debut” as AEGEAN’s CEO K. Dimitris Gerogiannis in his presentation on the project, which was implemented after a very extensive reconstruction of the old Olympic hangar.
The empty and abandoned for over 12 years industrial building was completely transformed, while its energy upgrade was carried out with the installation of a photovoltaic park of 25,000 square meters, creating the largest photovoltaic park on a roof in Greece with the capacity to produce 3 MW of power, 4.5 GWh of energy on an annual basis, capable of covering most of the energy needs of the facilities in operation.
“It is a green hangar that hosts the maintenance services we perform both for us and now for third parties and a modern pilot and cabin crew training centre with 4 simulators, which will become 7 in its full development in the coming years”, AEGEAN CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis said yesterday.
