Autumn in Athens is festival season, a seamless continuation of summer. Who said concerts and events are only for the summer? Athens is brimming with engaging activities that ease us into the new season, providing excellent opportunities to go out, connect with others, and have a great time.
Following the first Athens Jazz Festival held in mid-September at the Petra Theater, and the highly successful Book Fair at Pedion tou Areos—which celebrated its 50th anniversary—our urban festivals continue, catering to all tastes. Music, theater, dance, flavors, and lifestyle merge on stages, booths, and stalls, inviting us to partake in their festive atmosphere.

The festival continues until September 30, filling the heart of the city with music, theater, and dance. Set against a lush hillside backdrop, it features a general admission fee of €5, with some events offering free entry, showcasing significant happenings for the Athenian audience. Burger Festival
The celebration of burgers, cocktails, and music returns for its 10th anniversary from September 27-29 at the Amaksostasio in Gazi. While the event took place over the weekend of September 20-22, the excitement continues. The festival will gather 16 top burger joints, accompanied by a strong musical lineup of alternative Greek bands to enhance the culinary enjoyment.
Fantasy Festival
In Peristeri, the beloved festival for all ages organized by Dioptra Publications will take place on September 28-29 at the Peristeri Exhibition Center. It will feature over 300 exhibitors showcasing books, comics, handicrafts, as well as interactive games, theater, and dance performances. Tickets cost €5 for a day—an excellent idea for a family outing that won’t disappoint anyone.

Oktoberfest Athens 2024
It’s official! The world’s largest beer festival returns for its second consecutive year at the Amaksostasio of O.S.Y. in Gazi on October 3-6, supported by the Athens Street Food Festival. As you may know, Oktoberfest has been held in Munich since 1810, drawing millions of visitors each year—making it arguably the largest festival event on the planet. Beer lovers will be thrilled with this news: specially limited-edition barrels will arrive from Bavaria to Athens exclusively for the Athens Oktoberfest.
Vegan Life Festival
The country’s largest vegan event returns for the eighth time to the city on October 5-6, from 11 AM to 11 PM, at Technopolis in the Municipality of Athens, with free admission. The festival will feature a rich exhibition of vegan products, lectures, workshops, a photography exhibition, and even a blood donation booth, making it a significant educational event for those looking to change their lifestyle.
Athenian Rebetiko Festival
Finally, something like this is happening in Athens! On October 12-13, at “Elliniko Molivi” (Iera Odos 154, Aigaleo), prominent musicians and singers of urban Greek music will join forces to present live performances filled with passion and tradition. Additionally, discussions and parallel activities aim to shed light on the history and value of a relatively overlooked segment of Greek culture. Free entry for the unemployed, people with disabilities, large families, children under 15, retirees, and seniors over 75. The event will also have a humanitarian and charitable aspect, as part of the proceeds will be donated to the Christodoulou Orphanage and the Panhellenic Association of Paraplegics.
