The historic match between Greece and England at Wembley for the Nations League took place on Thursday night, overshadowed by the death of George Baldock.
The 31-year-old footballer, who drowned in the pool of his home in Glyfada, was born in 1993 in England and lived there until 2024, when he transferred to Panathinaikos and moved to Greece.
George Baldock was well-loved by the English due to his career in the UK and became known in Greece through the national team, with which he played 12 games.

Before the game, the English Football Association decided to place a black banner at Wembley displaying Baldock’s name.

Players from both teams wore black armbands, and a minute of silence will be observed in his memory.
