The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defence are launching the possibility of access to military schools from 3 Science Fields and National Examinations in order to attract candidates for the Panhellenic Examinations. In addition, a salary of 609 euros, support for infrastructure, and the granting of doctorates were decided.
The plan was elaborated by the two ministers in charge of education, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and defense, Nikos Dendias during their meeting today at the Defense Ministry.

Their decisions on ways to attract high school graduates to military schools were announced today, Thursday, October 10, by the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias after their meeting at the Ministry of National Defense.
Specifically, they announced the possibility of access to military schools from three scientific fields, as well as from the Panelladic exams of 2026.
It was also decided that students would receive a salary of 609 euros compared to the 150 they currently receive. 20 million euros are to be allocated to strengthen their infrastructure. Finally, there will be the possibility of granting doctoral degrees as the military schools will cooperate with institutions such as the Hellenic Centre for Innovation.
The changes, worked out by the two ministers, were based on a “national reason” given the reduced occupancy rate at military schools, which has fallen to 64% and 34% at the Evelpidon School.
Finally, Dendias noted that free housing will be provided to military personnel when they are transferred and announced that the construction of 1,000 houses is planned.
