A woman working at a tank factory in Russia was sentenced on Friday to 12.5 years in a penal colony for treason after selling military-related information to Ukraine.
Viktoria Mukhametova received the sentence in a video released by the Sverdlovsk regional court in the Ural region, where a judge delivered the verdict while she remained expressionless.
Her husband, Daniil Mukhametov, is facing separate charges on similar counts.
Both worked at Uralvagonzavod, a major tank production facility, according to Russian media reports. Mukhametova admitted to transferring blueprints to Ukrainian officials in exchange for 100,000 rubles, roughly over $1,000. The exact content of the blueprints was unclear.
Mukhametova and her husband were arrested in March 2023 by the FSB security service, which released a video of their arrest. In the footage, when asked what they intended to do with the money, she replied, “Just to live.”
