Greece celebrated ten medals at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship held at “Dyo Aorakia” in Heraklion, Crete, with Nikitas Markoulakis and Alexandros Kastrounis adding their names to the list of medalists.
Markoulakis secured second place in the -94kg NO-Gi category after three victories and one defeat, the latter in the finals against Georgian Alexander Tevzadze, contributing the fourth silver medal to the Greek team. Earlier, Kastrounis reached the semifinals, securing the sixth bronze for the country.
Greece ranked 11th in the medal table, marking a tremendous success. Kazakhstan topped the chart with 45 medals, including 18 golds. France was second and Ukraine third, while Germany and Thailand completed the top five.
