Christoforos Papakaliatis: My father came off life support today

What the director said about his father’s health update

Christoforos Papakaliatis’ father, Manolis, has been released from the ICU, though he remains in critical condition following a serious traffic accident in Heraklion, Crete, a few days ago.

Christoforos Papakaliatis spoke about his father’s health on the “Buongiorno” show on the morning of Wednesday, October 30th.

Specifically, he stated, “Today he came off life support. He’s doing better. Better compared to previous days. I’m here at the hospital, as are my siblings. We’re here all the time. I hope everything goes well. We have a long way ahead of us.”

On Tuesday, October 22, it was reported that the well-known businessman and sports figure Manolis Papakaliatis, father of actor and director Christoforos Papakaliatis, was involved in a traffic accident and required intensive care at the Venizeleio Hospital.

According to reports from Cretapost, Manolis Papakaliatis underwent lengthy surgery due to severe injuries after being struck by a motorbike.

The incident occurred late Monday afternoon, October 21, in the Agios Ioannis area of Knossos, when a motorbike carrying a 57-year-old man and a minor struck Manolis Papakaliatis as he attempted to cross the street.

Emergency Medical Service ambulances promptly arrived at the scene and transported the 76-year-old businessman and the minor passenger to Venizeleio Hospital.

Both injured parties were taken to Venizeleio Hospital, with the well-known businessman sustaining serious injuries and the minor suffering light injuries.
