Thessaloniki: Grandson accused of stealing €27,000 from grandfather’s bank account

A couple is accused of stealing a total of 27,000 euros from the account of an elderly man in Thessaloniki, with the man being his grandson.

A criminal case has been filed against the 33-year-old and a 34-year-old woman, as it was revealed during the police investigation that after gaining access to the elderly man’s debit card, they made cash withdrawals from ATMs in 182 transactions and placed orders through an online application or website, as well as engaging in other transactions.

The two are accused of defrauding the victim of a total amount exceeding 27,000 euros.

It is noted that, according to the Greek Police (ELAS), a total of 7 criminal cases have been filed for cases of theft and fraud, and investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators.

In this context, police officers from the Neapolis-Sykeon Security Department, following a methodical and thorough investigation, have formed cases against 7 individuals (3 locals and 4 foreigners) for one case of computer fraud, one vehicle theft, one burglary, and one attempted burglary of a store, actions that occurred from October 30, 2023, to June 11, 2024, in the broader area of the Municipality of Neapolis-Sykeon, involving the theft of cash and personal items.
