A new “incident” between Greek and Turkish ships has just occurred in the Southeastern Aegean Sea, in the wider maritime area of Kassos.
While the Turkish naval exercise “MAVI BALINA” (“Blue Whale”) was underway, as is customary a Greek warship was observing the activity in the area.
At the conclusion of the exercise, four Turkish ships, while heading to the Aksaz naval base, stopped in the wider sea area of Kasou.
The Navy was immediately mobilized, with the force reinforced by another Greek frigate. Eventually, the Turkish ships departed, setting a course for the Turkish coast.
The incident ended mainly through diplomatic channels.
