The former head coach of the Greek national team has signed with the Israeli team for a lucrative contract.
With a video showing a man breaking plates, Hapoel Tel Aviv announced the agreement for the technical leadership with Dimitris Itoudis.
The Greek coach, who won two Euroleague titles (2016 and 2019 with CSKA Moscow), has signed a contract until 2027 with the Israeli team, and the announcement was made shortly after. Itoudis will be joined by Stefanos Dedas, the former head coach of Hapoel, who agreed to stay on the coaching staff.
In the presentation video, Hapoel shows footage from Dimitris Itoudis’ coaching career, with the caption “I came to strengthen it!”
The former head coach of the Greek national team, Dimitris Itoudis, if he manages to lead Hapoel Tel Aviv to win the Eurocup, which guarantees automatic participation in the Euroleague, will earn a total of 4.6 million euros. His contract includes 2.7 million euros, with the remaining amount tied to performance bonuses.
Since December 13, 2023, when his collaboration with Fenerbahce ended, Dimitris Itoudis had chosen to stay away from the sidelines. He returns now, after a year minus one month, not to a Euroleague team as expected, but to take over as head coach of Hapoel Tel Aviv, which competes in the Eurocup, and amidst the ongoing war in Israel.
