Elon Musk, criticized the British government again, calling it “full Stalin” over the increase in inheritance tax on farms valued over £1 million.
This is the latest “attack” from the ally of President-elect Donald Trump against the center-left Labour government of the UK, occurring at a time when the United Kingdom is trying to smooth relations with the new US President ahead of his inauguration.
Musk’s comments, published on his personal social media platform, focus on a controversial tax proposal presented by the Labour Party last month.
The government proposes eliminating the inheritance tax exemption for certain farms, which has been described as “devastating” by the National Farmers’ Union, according to Politico.
Extensive protests from farmers are expected in London on Tuesday.
The changes, which are expected to be implemented by April 2026, would impose a 20% inheritance tax on heirs of agricultural holdings worth more than £1 million.
The UK Treasury claims that fewer than 500 farms are expected to be affected annually and emphasizes that this contribution is half of what other taxpayers pay in inheritance tax.
Musk mocked the measure, comparing it to a similar policy of Joseph Stalin, the Soviet dictator of the 20th century, who carried out a brutal program of collectivization of agricultural enterprises.
Musk’s Attacks on Starmer’s Government
This is not the first time Musk has clashed with the British government.
Last summer, the billionaire predicted a “civil war” in Britain due to the unrest following a deadly knife attack that killed three young girls in a rural town.
Soon after, Musk was not invited to attend an investment summit organized by the British government.
Musk has also criticized the UK’s policy of arresting people for expressing their opinion on social media platforms.
