Matteo Bocelli: Performing in Greece for the first time

The rising son of the renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is making waves in the international music scene

Young, talented, and strikingly handsome, Matteo Bocelli carries a distinguished musical legacy. The 27-year-old artist will perform his debut concert in Greece on June 13, at the Melina Mercouri Theatre in the Vrachon Theater, as part of his major European tour.

Although still in his twenties, Matteo has already made his mark both as a performer and a composer. He has graced some of the world’s most prestigious stages alongside leading stars of showbiz. His emotive performances and powerful voice continue to captivate a global audience, with him singing in multiple languages.

His first full-length album, titled “Matteo”, was ambitious, featuring collaborations with prominent names like Ed and Matthew Sheeran, PARISI (also collaborators of Ed Sheeran), Jesse Shatkin (known for working with Miley Cyrus, Sia, and Kelly Clarkson), and Stuart Crichton (producer for the Backstreet Boys). Matteo’s songs blend contemporary pop with classical melodies, staying true to the genre his father has so successfully championed.

A Life Immersed in Music
Raised in a deeply musical environment, Matteo began piano lessons at an early age. He has shared: “I’ve always loved music, even as a child.” Growing up, he listened to opera and classical music but was also influenced by legendary voices like Whitney Houston and Frank Sinatra. During his teenage years, his musical horizons expanded, and he developed a keen interest in pop music. Particularly inspired by Ed Sheeran, who was then an emerging artist, Matteo once confessed, “At 16, I realized music was more than just a passion; it became the essence of my life.”

Key Milestones in His Career
Matteo’s live debut was at the age of 18 at the Colosseum in Rome. In 2018, he released “Fall on Me”, a touching duet with his father Andrea Bocelli, reflecting the parent-child bond. The song has garnered over 400 million streams worldwide.

In 2020, Matteo unveiled “Solo”, a mesmerizing love song blending classical arias with modern sounds. Another standout track, “Chasing Stars”, showcases his impressive vocal range. Written by Ed Sheeran, this poignant ballad narrates a father teaching his son self-discovery and self-acceptance. Speaking of Sheeran’s contribution, Matteo remarked, “We both grew up in families that greatly value music. He wrote this song, but it felt like it was crafted just for me. I’m truly honored.”
