Donald Trump stated that he wants to declare a state of national emergency in order to implement his plan for mass deportations of illegal immigrants and confirmed that he intends to use the armed forces to that end.

“Good news: Donald Trump’s incoming administration is reportedly ready to declare a national emergency and use military resources in the fight against the invasion (authorized by President Joe Biden) through a mass deportation program,” Tom Fitton, director of the conservative organization Judicial Watch, wrote on the president-elect’s Truth Social platform.

A post to which the Republican billionaire simply replied on the same social media outlet, “It’s true!”

The US counts more than 11 million illegal immigrants, according to estimates.

Some economists are concerned that the deportation of millions of illegal immigrant workers may have an impact on the U.S. economy, which is already facing a labor shortage.

In April, Donald Trump had said that the National Guard, “should be able” to handle deportations.

“If that doesn’t happen, I will use the military,” federal troops, he had told Time.

The US Constitution allows the president to declare “a state of national emergency” in special circumstances. During his first term, Donald Trump had used this provision “with respect to the southern border” of the US to get $8 billion from the budget to build the wall on the border with Mexico.
