A search and rescue operation for migrants is underway in the northern sea area of Samos, coordinated by the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED).
So far, 36 people have been located by Hellenic Police (EL.AS) forces. Three individuals have been rescued from a rocky shore by a Coast Guard gunboat. Eight bodies have been recovered, including six minors and two women.
The operation involves a Coast Guard gunboat (PAΘ), a rescue vessel (N/G), a Coast Guard patrol boat (PLS), an aircraft, and a helicopter from the Hellenic Coast Guard, as well as ground forces from EL.AS.
Weather conditions in the area are challenging, with winds of 5-6 Beaufort, making rescue efforts more difficult.
The operation continues, aiming to locate and rescue the remaining missing individuals.
